The 12th Guangzhou Convention

From Dec. 25 to 28, 2009, Xiamen will organize a delegation to attend the 12th Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology (OCS), according to a circular issued by the general office of Xiamen Municipal Government:

All participating units should complete and submit the application form for OCS to the Overseas Student Administrative Centre in Xiamen. The Xiamen Personnel Bureau will be responsible for conference fee, publicity fee and reference materials fee for the delegation, while the participants are only responsible for travel costs and personal accommodation expenses.

Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology (OCS)，jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Personnel, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guangzhou Municipal Government, is held annually in December at Pazhou International Convention and Exhibition Center, Guangzhou.

Under the guideline of “Open to the world and serve the whole nation”, OCS aims to establish a platform for exchanges of projects, investment, intellectual and information between overseas scholars and internal institutions, and now it has been the largest in scale, most-widely opened to the outside world, and longest since establishment.

More than 2,000 overseas Chinese scholars and 3,000 high-tech projects are expected to attend this year’s OCS.

Furthermore, in order to attract more high-level overseas talents and high-tech projects to settle in the province, Xiamen will hold the “2009 Fujian (Xiamen) Overseas Talent and Enterprises Convention” on Dec. 29, 2009, following the 12th Guangzhou Convention of Overseas Chinese Scholars in Science and Technology.

Overseas scholars who are interested in starting a business, looking for a job in Fujian are welcomed to the convention, which will provide free booths to participating units and share the information of overseas Chinese talents and projects.

All participating units should complete and submit the application form for 2009 Fujian (Xiamen) Overseas Talent and Enterprises Convention to the Xiamen Service Centre for Human Resources before Dec. 20, 2009.
